THE ROOSTER AND THE CROSS
(Il Gallo e la Croce)
Musical Theatre

A worker is doing his work: somebody is needed to finally fix the lightning rod on the roof of the church. Up above, far away from the ground, rusty and forgotten, sits a rooster and a cross. One is wise; the other is useful. The two are in conflict with each other. A storm arises and the cross is struck by lightning. It crashes down from the steeple. The rooster stays up above by himself. All the way up above. And alone.
Has God forsaken us? What about ourselves? Do we search for Him? Do we want to find Him? Or is there nothing to be found, and we must depend only upon ourselves?
A worker is doing his work and climbs step by step up to the church...

The rooster and the cross is not an opera, it is not a concert, neither is it a theosophical discussion, but it is much more a passion, a quick glimpse behind the curtain. A poem of everyday life.
