REQUIEM for an unborn child
”In my opinion, there is a correlation between the tone (sound) and the synchronized behavior of subject matter and spirit. Therefore it is only natural, that I find great significance in the symbolic strength of intervals -alike in numbers and geometric formulas. The ‘Requiem’ connects in itself very heterogeneous structural views; namely a vertical hierarchy of intervals (in a kind of Hindemith-view) and a horizontal serial technique. Despite this complicated structure, the work only becomes to be a true requiem through its elementary directness...
Despite this complicated structure, the work becomes a true requiem only through its elementary directness. The text is a personal argument between me, and the ‘be to be’, meaning the unborn child.”
